Saudi Arabia Residence Visa

Navigating the Saudi Arabia Residence Visa process requires significantly more paperwork than applying for a standard tourist or business visa. Whether you are joining family or relocating permanently to the Kingdom, securing your Saudi Arabia Residence Visa from the UK involves several mandatory steps:

  • MOFA Authorization: Obtaining an official Yellow Slip or family visa approval letter issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

  • Legalised Relationship Proof: Getting UK birth or marriage certificates legalised (Apostilled) by the FCDO and certified by the Saudi Embassy.

  • Medical & Police Clearances: Completing certified medical reports from an approved physician along with an ACRO police background check.

Saudi Arabia Residence Visa

To apply for a Saudi Arabia Resident Visa (Family Joining / Residency), you need a passport with at least 6 months’ validity, two passport photos, an official MOFA visa authorization letter (Yellow Slip), FCDO-legalised marriage and birth certificates, a certified medical report from an approved physician, and an ACRO police clearance certificate.

Once all your documents—including legalised certificates, medical reports, and ACRO checks—are ready, the embassy processing and biometric appointment typically take 3 to 5 working days. Gathering and attesting the required UK documents usually takes 2 to 3 weeks prior to submission.

No. ACRO police background checks and medical examinations are generally only required for applicants aged 16 and older. Children under 16 only need their FCDO-attested birth certificate, passport photos, valid passport, and the MOFA authorization letter.

The Yellow Slip is the official visa authorization document issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). It must be obtained in Saudi Arabia by your sponsor (usually your employer or family member residing in the Kingdom with an Iqama) before you can submit your visa application in the UK.

The Saudi-approved medical report is valid for 3 months from its issue date, while the ACRO police clearance certificate is valid for 6 months. Both documents must remain valid at the time your application is processed at the Saudi Visa Centre.
